For centuries, astronomers have puzzled over the origins of one of the universe’s oldest and densest stellar systems, known as globular clusters. Now, a University of Surrey-led study published in Nature has finally solved the mystery using detailed simulations—while also uncovering a new class of object that could already be in our own galaxy.
Physicists have long believed that black holes explode at the end of their lives, and that such explosions happen—at most—only once every 100,000 years. But new research published in Physical Review Letters by physicists at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has found a more than 90% probability that one of these black-hole explosions might be seen within the decade, and that, if we are prepared, our current fleet of space and earthbound telescopes could witness the event.
Everyone who has ever lived on Earth has been well-aware of the moon, but it turns out Earth also has some frequent temporary companions. These “quasi-moons” are small asteroids that enter into a kind of resonance with Earth’s orbit, although they aren’t technically orbiting Earth. In August, this small group of asteroids, called Arjunas, offered another companion to add to the list.
Traditionally, black holes are usually thought to “reside” at the centers of galaxies. However, a research team led by Dr. An Tao from the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has discovered a wandering black hole in a dwarf galaxy located about 230 million light-years away (redshift z = 0.017).
A decade ago, scientists first detected ripples in the fabric of space-time, called gravitational waves, from the collision of two black holes. Now, thanks to improved technology and a bit of luck, a newly detected black hole merger is providing the clearest evidence yet of how black holes work—and, in the process, offering long-sought confirmation of fundamental predictions by Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
Phases of matter are the basic states that matter can take—like water that can occur in a liquid or ice phase. Traditionally, these phases are defined under equilibrium conditions, where the system is stable over time. But nature allows for stranger possibilities: new phases that emerge only when a system is driven out of equilibrium. In a new study published in Nature, a research team shows that quantum computers offer an unparalleled way to explore those exotic states of matter.
“Out of an abundance of caution we are surging resources,” Commissioner Jessica Tisch said. “And you can expect to see an increase in police presence at critical infrastructure locations”
Enki (“En” Lord, “ki” Earth), or Ea (“E” Temple, “A” Water) is one of the three most important gods of Mesopotamian culture. He is the god of wisdom, lord of magic, construction, arts, design, and creation. Enki has been interpreted as The Lord of Earth; He was the stepbrother of the god Enlil, and son of An. His sole mission was to create men and to encourage other deities to believe in them. Enki was also the original patron God of the ancient city of Eridu, and his influence spread throughout history throughout Mesopotamia and to the Canaanites, Hittites and even Hurrians. Interestingly, Enki was associated with the southern band of constellations called stars of Ea, but also with the constellation AŠ-IKU—Pegasus, a constellation in the northern sky. Sometime during the second millennium BCE, Enki was referred to in writing by the numeric ideogram for “40,” which was also referred to as His “sacred number.” Enki is the creator of mankind—according to what is told in the epic legend Acadia of Atrahasis—solely for the purpose of releasing the gods from their work. Enki used an existing hominid which he (Genetically?) manipulated in some in order to make man capable of understanding and meet the needs of the gods. He is also later considered mankind’s savior since he warned Ziusudra of the universal flood. The Universal flood was brought upon mankind by Enlil, the “Lord of Heaven (air or atmosphere)”. ![]() Before the divine assembly, apparently worried about the excessive proliferation of the human race and uncanny behavior Enlil proposed to put an end to humanity. Enlil managed to convince the rest of the gods, gathered in assembly, to authorize the extermination of Humanity. This legend probably gave rise to the later biblical account of Noah and the universal flood. He was the master shaper of the earth, god of wisdom and of all magic, Enki was described as the lord of the Abzu (Apsu in Akkadian), the freshwater sea or groundwater located within the earth— where “primordial waters” flow. He is also the creator of the apkallu (ab-gal-lu “great man-fish” in Sumerian) who during the day taught men in all kinds of subjects, and at night they retired to the bottom of the sea. ![]() Interestingly, Enki was considered the keeper of the divine powers called Me, the gifts of civilization. Enki’s image was a double-helix snake or the Caduceus, sometimes confused with the Rod of Asclepius used to symbolize medicine. Enki created the first seven wise men or “Abgallu” (Ab = water, Gal = great, Lu = Man), also known as Adapa using the blood of slain Kingu. Adapa, the first man, fashioned, later goes and acts as the advisor to the King of Eridu, when in the Sumerian king list, the “Me” of “kingship descends on Eridu”. The main temple to Enki was called E-abzu, meaning “abzu temple.” It was a ziggurat temple surrounded by Euphratean marshlands near the ancient Persian Gulf coastline at the ancient city of Eridu. It is considered the very first temple known to have been built in Southern Iraq. Four separate archaeological excavations at the site of Eridu have demonstrated the existence of a shrine dating back to the earliest Ubaid period, more than 6,500 years ago. Over the following 4,500 years, the temple was expanded 18 times, until it was abandoned during the Persian period. It is believed that over the following 4,500 years, the temple was expanded up to 18 times until it was eventually abandoned during the Persian period. Rifles, handguns and AR-style magazines that had writing on them referencing mass shootings were unsecured in the home, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office
Planetary scientists believe they can now predict the green glow of an aurora in the night sky above Mars, and they have the images to prove it.
When a droplet of liquid the size of a grain of icing sugar hits a water-repelling surface, like plastics or certain plant leaves, it can meet one of two fates: stick or bounce. Until now, scientists thought bouncing depended only on how repellent the surface was and how the droplet lost its impact energy. Speed, they assumed, didn’t matter.
In a step toward making ultra-bright X-ray sources more widely available, an international collaboration led by the University of Michigan—with experiments at the U.K.’s Central Laser Facility—has mapped key aspects of electron pulses that can go on to generate laser-like X-ray pulses.
An international team of astronomers reports the discovery of a new pre-main-sequence eclipsing binary system. The newfound binary, designated MML 48, consists of two young low-mass stars. The finding will be published in the upcoming issue of the Astronomy & Astrophysics journal.
YouTube Video Here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/fDWmQCAr7bE?feature=oembed&enablejsapi=1 When we talk a bout Pyramids everyone immediately turns their thoughts to Egypt, the Giza plateau and the three pyramids standing tall just outside of Cairo. However, did you know that there are more than 1000 pyramids in Central America alone? There are 300 Pyramids in China and over 200 Pyramids in Sudan. Egypt boasts only around 120 Pyramids. But, no matter where you look, you’ll find pyramids scattered across the globe. But why? Why are these enigmatic structure located across the planet? Why did nearly all ancient civilizations across the globe, the Ancient Maya, Aztecs, Pre-Inca Cultures, Ancient Chinese, and many others build these supermassive structures? Furthermore, why are so many pyramids around the globe so eerily similar in design? Why is it that we still can’t fully understand why the ancients built Pyramids? Were they meant to serve as eternal resting places for different Pharaohs and kings? Or is it possible they served another, completely different purpose than what mainstream scholars are making us believe? Is it just a wild coincidence that there are thousands of Pyramids scattered all across the globe? How are most of them so similar? Is it possible that ancient cultures were somehow interconnected thousands of years ago? And that somehow a pyramid building culture—that is now long gone—passed onto different civilizations the blueprints of building pyramids? What if after all, Pyramids were not used as tombs, but as something entirely different? A Ukrainian scientist believes he may have finally solved the mystery behind the Pyramids and says he now understands what they were used for by ancient civilizations across the globe. Dr. Volodymyr Krashnoholovets, a physicist from the Ukraine, who has curiously spent over a decade building and researching pyramids has been fascinated by these ancient structures for a long time.
Endorsed by the Russian government, he created a 144-foot-tall pyramid outside of Moscow. He is a man who believes to have finally cracked the mystery behind pyramids and why they were built, and according to him, this is a summary of his discoveries on the effects Pyramids:
All of the above-mentioned discoveries made by Dr. Volodymyr Krashnoholovets are explained in the following video presented by author and researcher David Wilcock. What do you think? Is it possible that after all Pyramids were not used as tombs in ancient times? Is it possible that after all, these majestic ancient structures—scattered across the globe—have a purpose that mainstream scholars have not yet identified? Featured image by kuschelirmel |
