Could it be? Has someone already boldly gone where no man has gone before? Not exactly:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>This probably a coincidence caused by massive windstorms, lava, and other natural forces forming the Martian landscape \u2014 because the alternative is that one of those wacky \u201cStar Trek\u201d time travel plots actually happened, which would be awful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The NASA has discovered\u00a0a dune in the shape of Starfleet -the famous logo from Star Trek on Mars,the MRO HiRISE camera,said\u201cEnterprising viewers will make the discovery that these features look conspicuously like a famous log,You\u2019d be right, but it\u2019s only a coincidence <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/feZub0IpO0\">pic.twitter.com\/feZub0IpO0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SURPRISING WORLD (@GowthamThota7) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GowthamThota7\/status\/1140337252754587648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">June 16, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ross Beyer, Principal Investigator with the Carl Sagan Center at the SETI Institute, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uahirise.org\/ESP_059708_1305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">explained the bizarre<\/a> \u201cStar Trek\u201d figure the Mars Orbiter photographed:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLong ago, there were large crescent-shaped (barchan) dunes that moved across this area, and at some point, there was an eruption. The lava flowed out over the plain and around the dunes, but not over them. The lava solidified, but these dunes still stuck up like islands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnterprising viewers will make the discovery that these features look conspicuously like a famous logo: and you\u2019d be right, but it\u2019s only a coincidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite that coincidence, actor William Shatner, who starred in the groundbreaking TV series, couldn\u2019t resist trolling the \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Hey <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/starwars?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@starwars<\/a>!
